Blog:Proper eyewear maintenance: Class is now in session
You’ve found the perfect pair of glasses. They look absolutely amazing. People are throwing compliments at you from all directions. You know you’re hot.
Then one morning, you put them on and notice…
They’re scratched.
Or bent.
Ouch. How did this happen? While some accidents are just unavoidable, there are a few things that you can do to decrease the odds of this particular scenario happening to you.
First, practice gentle handling. Today’s frames are more durable than ever, but they still require your TLC. Remember to use both hands to put them on and remove them. This relieves undue stress and keeps them aligned. Also, make sure that you store them closed, on a table or desk that is free of the threat of being crushed. Keep them inside of a case that fits properly.
Next, make sure you clean your glasses at least once a day. You can first run them under lukewarm water to loosen debris, and use a mild soap or lens cleansing solution to remove the other stuff. Afterwards, wipe them clean with a cloth that is soft and free of particles like lint. Don’t forget your frames, as they require the same care.
Important: never wipe your lenses with just a dry cloth before cleaning them. Over time, this could lead to scratching.
These quick tips can go quite far to help keep your specs fresh throughout the seasons. Make them a habit and reap the benefits.
